Lami festival opening today

Many people are expected to turn up at Tikaram Park in Lami with the opening of the Lami festival today.

Organized by the Lami Town Council and Shore Buses Limited as the major sponsor, special administrator Jasper Singh hopes more people will be attracted to the area as the council aims to revive the festival.

He said due to the lack of corporate support, the festival was not held since 2005.

He added more than $25,000 is targeted for the four day event with five contestants vying for the main prizes.

Minister for Local Government Colonel Samuela Saumatua will open the festival at 12pm today.
