The town of Labasa will be buzzing with activities for a week.
This is after the 2011 Vodafone Fiji Festival of the Friendly North kicked off on Saturday at Subrail Park with twelve contestants vying for the crown.
Special Administrator Vijay Chand said the event will provide better trading opportunities for the business community because people from all over Vanua Levu will converge in Labasa.
Chand said the festival will also provide fun, enjoyment and an excellent opportunity for interaction.
The organizers are targeting to raise $100,000 in the weeklong festival.
