The Labasa soccer team will be out to successfully defend a soccer title for the first time when the Courts IDC begins next Tuesday at the ANZ Stadium.

The Northerners failed to successfully defend their BOG title in August and the pressure will be on the players and the coach to deliver.

The team has a number of players that won the IDC title last year and players such as Akuila Mateisuva, Taniela Waqa, Ashnil Raju, Siotame Kubu, Ilisoni Loloivalu, Iliesa Lino and Antonio Tuivuna will be crucial for Labasa’s success.

Labasa will also be boosted by the fact that in their last Vodafone Premier League match they beat VPL leaders Rewa 2-1.

Labasa begin their title defence against Navua at 2.30pm next Tuesday at the ANZ Stadium.

In other matches on day 1, Suva plays Nasinu at 12.30pm, Ba takes on Nadi at 4.30pm while Rewa plays Lautoka at 7pm.
