The Land Transport Authority will be conducting the taxi permit barrel draw for the Nadi and Lautoka Zones this Saturday at the Girmit Center in Lautoka.
LTA’s Chairperson Vijay Maharaj says for the Nadi and Lautoka transport zones, a total of 2,647 taxi permit applications were received.
However, after the review of applications by the Taxi Permit Independent Review Committee, a total of 2,536 applications met the criteria and have qualified for the barrel draw this Saturday.
The LTA had called for taxi permit applications for the Nadi 1, Nadi 2 and Lautoka 1 transport zones from 31st May 2018.
Maharaj says these were the first set of applications received following the uplifting of the taxi permit freeze in January this year.
LTA has invited all the successful applicants to be present at the Girmit Center in Lautoka on Saturday in order to witness the transparency in which the taxi permits will be handed to the successful applicants through the conduct of the barrel draw.
We have asked LTA to confirm how many people will be awarded with taxi permits during the draw this Saturday.
