All driving instructors are to abide by the law which applies equally to everyone.
The Land Transport Authority has given this response to comments made by President of Fiji Driving Schools Association, Deo Narayan during their Annual General Meeting.
Narayan had said that new driving instructors should be trained with existing driving schools for at least a year before they are allowed to open their own driving school.
LTA has stated that if an applicant is a fit and proper person to operate a driving school and has not in the last 5 years committed any offence or been given prison sentences or disqualified from driving for any period of time, the person is eligible to operate a driving school.
LTA says the new instructors are thoroughly screened before they are deemed fit to become driving instructors.
The Authority says all new driving instructors are required to attend the Driving Instructor’s Course where they have to pass theory and practical exams in order to perform the duties of a driving instructor.
