52,955 motorists have been booked by the Land Transport Authority within the last four months for speeding and violation of traffic signals.

The LTA says the increasing number of speeding and traffic signal violations compared to previous years is very concerning.

It says there are currently 20 speed and red light cameras placed at strategic locations around the country and they are all operational.

The Authority has also confirmed that they are looking to install more speed cameras around the country but will release further details at a later stage.

LTA adds that red light speed cameras are installed at intersections and straight roads that are identified as having a high crash risk either through a known crash history or potential for serious crashes.

It further states that Fiji Roads Authority along with other stakeholders can nominate a location for a speed camera site.

All speed and red light cameras around the country went live from December last year.
