Wardens have won the first leg of the Fun Flavour Super 7s Series after beating defending champions, Police Blue 10-7 in the final.

Police had controlled the game well in the first half pinning Wardens back in their territory and hitting them with big tackles.

Things went wrong for Wardens towards the end of the first half as their scrum feed exited on the wrong end with Nacuqu capitalising on that loose ball and scoring Police Blues lone try of the game.

The tables turned midway in the second half as a Police player got yellow carded.

Wardens quickly increased their urgency and scored a try off of a quick tap from captain Josua Vakurunabili.

Having missed the conversion, Wardens quickly took the restart to prevent the carded Police player from entering the field.

A quick passage of short passes and basic rugby found Esala Nalobo unmarked on the wing as he went in for their second try to seal the game.

Wardens is now leading the series standings with 22 points while Police Blue is second with 19 points.

Meanwhile, Mount Masada beat Police White 29-0 in the women’s final.
