LA 7s: Fiji Men’s 7s secures quarter final spot after 40-0 win over Canada

The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s side has secured a quarter final spot in the Los Angeles 7s after a convincing 40-0 win over Canada in their second pool match this morning.

Fiji scored a total of 6 tries with 5 successful conversions to record their second win of the tournament.

Joseva Talacolo, Sevuloni Mocenacagi and Pilipo Bukayaro scored a converted try each to give Fiji a 21-0 lead heading at halftime.

Canada had no answer to Fiji’s lethal attacks as Fiji scored three more tries in the second half through Filipe Sauturaga, who scored two tries, and Terio Veilawa, with two conversions for the win.

Fiji will play France at 10.22am today in their final pool match.

The men’s cup quarter finals will kick off at 3.26pm today, the semi finals will be at 10.08am tomorrow and the final will be at 2.32pm tomorrow. Meanwhile, the Fijiana 7s lost their first pool match against Brazil 12-5 and they will take on South Africa at 8.26am today, before playing New Zealand at 1.24pm today in their final pool match. The women’s cup quarter finals will kick off at 6.14am tomorrow, the semi finals will begin at 9.24am tomorrow and the final will be at 1.43pm tomorrow.
