The Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s side is out of the HSBC Los Angeles 7s title contention after losing to Argentina 20-17 in the first semi-final.
Argentina started strong with a try from Rodrigo Isgro after the first minute of play, but Fiji responded with two tries from Ponepati Loganimasi and Iowane Teba to put Fiji in the lead to 12-5.
Luciano Gonzalez crossed over to close the gag to two points, while Marcos Moneta scored another try to give the Puma’s a 15-12 lead at the break.
Waisea Nacuqu was yellow carded for a deliberate knock-on within a minute of play in the second half.
Josese Batirerega scored the first try in the second half to put Fiji back in the lead, but the Puma’s responded through a try to Santiago Alvarez, which sealed their victory.
Fiji will now face the loser of New Zealand vs Australia match in the bronze final at 12.58pm today.
The cup final will be held at 1.28 pm today between Argentina and New Zealand.
