Two tries from Penrith Panthers fullback Sunia Turuva were not enough to give the Vodafone Fiji Bati the victory they needed as they went down 24-14 to the PNG Kumuls in the Pacific Test last night.
Turuva's first try came from a well-weighted grubber by Taane Milne while his second came in the 79th minute of the match.
Captain Kevin Naiqama also scored a try.
Kumuls skipper David Mead grabbed a try and ran for 139 metres as he led his country to their eighth win in their past 11 Test matches.
Sydney Roosters player Lachlan Lam scored a double, while McKenzie Yei and David Mead scored a try each for the Kumuls.
In other results, Lebanon thumped Malta 30-14, New Zealand beat Tonga 26-6 and Samoa thrashed Cook Islands 42-12.
