The Digicel Fiji Kulas are confident of creating an upset against New Zealand when the two teams meet in the OFC Women’s Olympics Qualifier semi final this afternoon.
Fiji Kulas’ defender Angeline Rekha says they know that NZ is one of the top favourites in the competition, but she believes her team has what it takes to counter the New Zealanders.
Rekha says she also knows what to expect from their opponent as she has played with some of the players back in NZ when she went to trials for the Wellington Phoenix last year.
Meanwhile, NZ’s Rebekah Stott says they are aware of how the Fiji Kulas have developed so far and they are a really good team.
Stott says the Kulas can score goals from anywhere and they will need to tighten their defence.
The Kulas will take on New Zealand at 4pm this afternoon. In another semi final, Solomon Islands takes on Samoa this hour.
