Concerns have been raised by the Koronivia Business Council regrading the rise in criminal activities in the area following the break-in at the Shiv Krish Temple at Kabutri Drive in Koronivia.

President of the Council, Amitesh Deo says the incident occurred around 10am Sunday where a man broke into the temple and caused significant damage to windows and internal items.

Deo says this underscores the critical need for enhanced security measures in Koronivia and are requesting the Fiji Police Force for swift action to ensure the safety and security of all residents.

He says the Council has been actively engaging with the Police to address the rising crime rates and despite initial efforts to deploy a specialised police unit, logistical challenges regarding suitable accommodation led to the withdrawal of officers from the area.

Deo further says prior to this they had reached out to the Acting Police Commissioner, Juki Fong Chew to discuss the deployment of a Police Unit again.

He says they have not received anything yet.

Police have confirmed to fijivillage News that a man has been arrested in this matter.
