Scoring the highest marks in the Fiji Year 12 Examination for Kavanagasau College in Sigatoka is just the beginning for Ashwin Kumar.
The 18-year-old who has been recently inducted as the school’s head boy says that scoring 346 out of 400 in his Year 12 external exam was not an easy feat to achieve and he hopes to do well in school to be able to provide a better life for his family.
Speaking to Fijivillage, Kumar says his parents have had to struggle to put him and his 2 siblings through school as they worked odd jobs to provide for their family.
Kumar shared a story of perseverance he has picked up over the years from his mum who works as a part time farmer and his father who picks up odd jobs as a joiner.
Meanwhile it was highlighted that Kavanagasau College achieved a 100% pass in the Fiji Year 13 Examination and a 95 % pass in the Fiji Year 12 Exam in 2018.
A total of 40 students were inducted as Prefects, Heads Prefects, Form Captains, Library Monitors, Bus and Carrier Monitors and Students Council Executives of Kavanagasau College in Sigatoka.
