Fiji's long-distance runner, Yeshnil Karan has set a new national half marathon record, clocking a time of 67 minutes 14 seconds at the Gold Coast Half Marathon.
He has improved his personal best time by 25 seconds.
His first ever half marathon run was only a month ago at the Suva Marathon event on the final day of the Oceania Championships, where he clocked 67 minutes 39 seconds.
Karan says the race was tough and challenging, with cold, windy, and rainy conditions, with some short climbs along the way but he kept reminding himself to stay strong and positive.
Karan thanked all the supporters along the route with cheers of 'Fiji' and 'Bula' which motivated him.
He extended his gratitude to Athletics Fiji, Oceania Athletics, Gold Coast, and Brisbane training partners and coaches, and all the benefactors for their invaluable support.
