Kaniliwa wins gold in Special Olympics

Team Fiji Petero Kaniliwa has won Fiji’s first gold medal at the Special Olympics in Berlin in the power lifting event.

Kaniliwa also took part in three power lifting events where he won gold in Dead-Lift discipline, won a bronze medal in Squat discipline, and came 4th in the bench press.

Ponijese Duncan won a bronze medal in Table Tennis Singles event.

Divam Sami did his best and received a participation award in both his events.

Few team members from Team Fiji have also made their mark during the competition, Siteri Daulili was placed in 4th= position in the Table Tennis Singles Event, Rukkya Bi came 6th in 1500 metres run and scored her personal best during the 800 metres.

Samu Vuetasau and Maria Teresia came 4th in the Badminton Mixed Doubles.

All 24 member team have done their level best while the Olympics reaches it’s final events.

The Special Olympics end this Sunday.
