K9 Rugga has assisted officers arrest a man alleged to be involved in a burglary case in Wainibuku.

Police say the suspect allegedly broke into a house and stole assorted items, some of which were packed in a sack.

They say when the person was disturbed by neighbours, the suspect dropped the sack and fled into nearby bushes.

Police officers and K9 Rugga were deployed to the scene, whereby K9 Rugga picked up the scent and trekked in the direction where the suspect had fled.

After trekking for more than 500 meters, K9 Rugga found the suspect hiding with another box containing items believed to be stolen.

The suspect in his 40s was arrested and taken into custody at the Nakasi Police Station.
