Experienced forward and Olympic gold medalist Josua Vakurunabili will be leading the Fiji Airways Men’s national 7s side in the back-to-back Dubai tournaments.
Vakurunabili will be assisted by Waisea Nacuqu during the outing in Dubai this weekend and the following week.
He says it’s a big task leading the national 7s team and he will try his best to deliver as the competition will be tough in Dubai.
Vakurunabili says this is an opportunity for him to prove that he can lead the team to victory and something that he has learned from his late father, that a good leader prioritizes the welfare of his people.
He adds leadership comes with responsibilities and the key values have been taught to him by his late father Ratu Luke Vidovi.
The Wardens 7s player says in the rugby field, it’s all about encouragement and getting the players together and that will be his role as a captain, to get seven players to think and play like they are one.
The first Dubai 7s competition will be held from this Friday to Sunday.
Fiji will face France at 7.22pm on Friday and will take on Canada at 10.52pm in the second game. Fiji will take on Australia at 3.33am Saturday in their last pool game.
