Our performance was not up to the standards that are required and I take full responsibility.
Those were the words of Wallabies head coach Eddie Jones after their disastrous 40-6 loss to Wales in their Pool C match this morning.
The loss is the Wallabies’ second consecutive loss in this year’s RWC pool games.
Jones says it was a really disappointing loss as the boys tried their hearts out but just don’t have the consistency to put pressure on teams like Wales.
He says they did some good things but fell away later on in the game and it is really disappointing.
When asked if he is still fully committed to the Wallabies project, Jones says he is 100 percent committed to it.
The Wallabies’ heavy 40-6 loss this morning has had them one foot out of the World Cup and they will be relying on a miracle for either Georgia or Portugal to beat Fiji by more than 34 points, and the Wallabies to win with maximum points and a larger margin than Fiji against Portugal. The Flying Fijians will now only need to win their remaining two pool matches against Georgia and Portugal to avoid any more complications to the final standings of Pool C.
In another RWC match this morning, Scotland beat Tonga 45-17. You can check out all the Rugby World Cup stories, interviews, photos, videos and schedules on our website, fijivillage.
