Wallabies head coach Eddie Jones is now under a lot of pressure and has found himself under intense scrutiny after the Wallabies’ 38-7 loss to the All Blacks in the first Bledisloe Cup 2023 clash in Melbourne last night.
This is the Wallabies’ third consecutive loss since Jones’ took over the coaching position.
The All Blacks started the game well with a quick unconverted try from flanker Shannon Frizell in the 2nd minute for a 5-0 lead before Wallabies back-rower Rob Valetini replied with a converted try in the 6th minute to take a 7-5 lead.
Fijian flyer and Wallabies winger Marika Koroibete was yellow carded in the 25th minute and the All Blacks took advantage of it.
The All Blacks scored two more tries to hooker Codie Taylor and winger Will Jordan with flyer Richard Mo’unga adding the extras for a 19-7 lead.
The game headed into halftime with a 19-7 lead to the All Blacks.
Wallabies’ prop Taniela Tupou added to the team’s headache after being yellow carded in the 56th minute which the All Blacks took advantage of again and scored two quick converted tries to Caleb Clarke and Mark Telea in the 58th and 63rd minutes respectively for a 31-7 lead.
Centre Rieko Ioane put the final nail to the coffin with a converted try in the 66th minute for the bonus point win.
Jones has now received criticism for his comment that he made last week and earlier this week and did not back it up after that poor performance from his side.
The second Bledisloe match will be hosted by the All Blacks at 2.35pm next Saturday.
Meanwhile, the Springboks edged Argentina 22-21 in another match of the Rugby Championship earlier this morning.
