Members of the public can now get the Fiji National Provident Fund and the Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority joint Identity Card.
Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum who was the Chief Guest and the first one to receive the card said the new initiative removes the bureaucracy and paves the way for a national ID card.

The card will be rolled out in phases and by locations as the process will affect over 700,000 taxpayers.
The card will be issued first to 250,000 FNPF members, who also have a Tax Identification Number.
Both organizations have identified Suva as the first location for the card rollout as it has the majority of the country's workers.
According to both institutions, to obtain a card, people will need to complete the joint card request form, submission of the full extract of a birth certificate and a valid identification card.
