Getting the call to join the Rooster Chicken Fijiana Drua team last year was a blessing and I never regretted my decision of accepting the offer.
Those were the words of Fijiana Drua outside back Vani Va’aga Arei as she looks forward to defending the Super W title this season.
Arei says she is excited about this year’s competition as there will be new players making their debut for the team.
She says preparations are going well for them, and even though training was tough, it never broke them but it brought them together.
The 23-year-old says her ultimate goal is to be a part of the Fijiana 15s national squad but her primary goal is to help her team defend their title this year.
Arei was part of the Melbourne Rebels women’s team in 2020 and later joined the Queensland Reds women’s extended squad before being called up to join the Fijiana Drua team last year.
She was also instrumental in the Fijiana Drua’s historic Super W win in just their first season in the tournament last year.
The Fijiana Drua will kick off their Super W title defence against the Brumbies at 1.35pm Saturday at Prince Charles Park Nadi.
Meanwhile, the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua will meet the Highlanders in Round 5 of the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific at 3.35pm Saturday.
