Fiji Men’s 7s team captain Jerry Tuwai says he is grateful that there are a lot of senior players that will help him guide the team to the Olympic Games.
Tuwai is also targetting his second Olympic Gold medal.
He was part of the gold medal-winning team in the 2016 Rio Olympics and he is the only surviving member from that side in the 12 member squad while Kitione Taliga is a travelling reserve.
He says the morale of the team is good.
Tuwai has so far scored 134 tries for Fiji in the 7s series and has also won the Player of the Year award.
Other players in the team are Semi Radradra, Kalione Nasoko, Josua Vakurunabili, Meli Derenalagi, Iosefo Masi, Asaeli Tuivuaka, Vilimoni Botitu, Waisea Nacuqu, Napolioni Bolaca, Jiuta Wainiqolo and Aminiasi Tuimaba.
Radradra will join the team in Japan later this week. The Olympic Games Rugby 7s competition will be held from the 26th to the 31st of this month.
Fiji is pooled with Great Britain, Canada and Japan.
The top two teams in each pool, plus the two third-placed teams with the highest points total will qualify for the quarterfinals.
The fixtures will be released later this week.
