LeBron James will be out to extend his 21st NBA campaign tomorrow when his Los Angeles Lakers open the NBA play-in tournament against the New Orleans Pelicans.
The winner of this match will book a playoff meeting with the defending champion Denver Nuggets.
The Lakers closed the regular season with a dominant 124-108 victory over the Pelicans yesterday.
James says the Lakers can't afford a let-down against a Pelicans team who are eager to turn the tables tomorrow.
He says they're going to be extremely ready for them, and they have to come in with the same sense of urgency.
The losing team will get one more chance to reach the playoffs, taking on the winning team from tomorrow’s game between the ninth-seeded Sacramento Kings and 10th-placed Golden State Warriors for a first-round meeting with Western Conference top seeds Oklahoma City.
In the confirmed play-in tournament fixtures, the Lakers will take on the Pelicans at 11.30am tomorrow, the Kings will play the Warriors at 2pm tomorrow, the Philadelphia 76ers will play the Miami Heats at 11am Thursday and the Chicago Bulls will face the Atlanta Hawks at 1.30pm Thursday.
