Jack de Belin’s sexual assault charges have been dropped after his lawyers were told the Director of Public Prosecutions won’t pursue a third trial against the Dragons player.
De Belin’s legal team were told he won’t stand trial again after two previous attempts to convict him on charges resulted in a hung jury. De Belin had stood trial alongside co-accused Callan Sinclair, who played for the Shellharbour Sharks.
De Belin has been sidelined for two-and-a-half years under the NRL’s no-fault stand-down policy.
The NRL will need to provide final clearance for de Belin to resume playing.
De Belin, who played for the NSW Blues in 2018, has not played for the Dragons since the end of the 2018 season.
