Minister for Fisheries Semi Koroilavesau

Minister for Fisheries Semi Koroilavesau has reiterated the importance of discussions and cooperation to increase the compliance of Fisheries rules.

While officiating at the 2nd National Fisheries Enforcement Forum that is being held at the Holiday Inn, Koroilavesau says it is not an easy task in Fiji to ensure that people follow Fisheries laws and regulations.

He states Fiji has a large Exclusive Economic Zone which spreads over a wide geographic area.

Koroilavesau says they have implemented management measures since the first fisheries enforcement forum and so far it has been very effective.

He also adds all that will be discussed today will help conserve our marine life for future generations.

The National Fisheries Enforcement Forum will be held until tomorrow with a number of agencies and groups coming together to discuss and further contribute to Fisheries compliance and enforcement.
