Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho

Police Commissioner Sitiveni Qiliho says it is important for them to look after every citizen of Fiji irrespective of their sexual orientation or whatever minority group that they belong to.

This is after six organisations that are at the forefront of dealing with issues faced by the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Intersex Queer community met with the Police Commissioner.

These were representatives from the Haus of Khameleon, Rainbow Pride Foundation, Diverse Voices In Action for Equality, Survival Advocacy Network, Strumphet Alliance Network and the Pacific Sexual and Gender Diversity Network

Speaking to Fijivillage, Qiliho says the purpose of the meeting was to see how they can better work together in looking after these organisations when it comes to policing issues and the law.

While acknowledging the efforts and change in approach made by police officers in addressing the needs of their communities, it was agreed by both parties that the best way to ensure a better working relationship would be through training which is expected to take place soon.
