The President of Israel Reuven Rivlin will be in Fiji on Thursday.
Rivlin will meet with Pacific Islands' Leaders for a summit on Thursday, under the hospitality of Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama.
Papua New Guinea, Samoa, Tonga and Solomon Islands are expected to be part of the meeting.
In an interview, Israel’s Ambassador to the Pacific Tibor Shalev Schlosser says the visit of the President of Israel to the Pacific Islands is a historic opportunity to affirm the bond of friendship and solidarity, which exists between Israel and the Pacific Islands' for many decades, based on the mutual democratic values.
He says the summit meeting will give a boost to the strong and continuous collaboration between Israel and the Pacific Islands nations for the benefit of the Pacific Islands' nations in their sustainable development challenges, based on the unique experience and innovative skills of Israel, among others, in the fields of Public Health, Food Security, Water Management and Disaster Preparedness.
