Police investigations are still underway in relation to an incident where a 18-year-old female student jumped out of the vehicle driven by a 42-year-old teacher last week.

It is alleged that teacher picked up an 18‑year‑old female student and refused to stop at the girl’s house in Soasoa, Labasa.

It is alleged that the teacher tried to persuade her to go with him for a 10 minute ride.

The student managed to jump out of the vehicle and was admitted in the Labasa Hospital with neck, back and hand injuries but she has been discharged.

Police say the teacher has since been interviewed and released.

Meanwhile, Education Minister Dr. Mahendra Reddy has confirmed the teacher has been suspended and they will take further action once they receive a report from the Fiji Police Force.
