Investigation report of MV Suilven sinking still being reviewed

The Maritime Safety Authority of Fiji’s (MSAF) technical committee is still reviewing the investigation report on the MV Suilven sinking in the Suva Harbour last November.

MSAF has said they are still making recommendations on the action to be taken which may include a request for an inquiry into the incident.

This report has details on when the Suilven started encountering problems, whether distress calls were made from the vessel, when the calls were made, the ship’s cargo load, the reaction time and the monitoring of vessels going in and out of the crucial Suva Harbour passage.

MSAF said they will release a statement once the investigation report is finalized.
