The International Youth Football Academy in Nadi has been given a boost through a government grant of $24,059.45 under the government’s Young Entrepreneurship Scheme.
While handing over the grant and opening the Vodafone Inter Youth Football Competition League, Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Co-operatives, SMEs and Communications Manoa Kamikamica says the money will be used to purchase water and carrier bottles, sports cones, soccer balls, goal posts, weight lifting equipment, reflecting vest and stop watches and other necessary equipment and gear for the business.
He says to date, the YES Programme has funded 13 recipients and invested over $300,000 in the form of grants to young and budding entrepreneurs who have innovative and bankable ideas or projects.
Kamikamica further says he has always believed that if we can impart good sportsmanship and fair play in aspiring sporting youngsters, then we as a nation have won in developing the champions of tomorrow.
He adds as we build our children, we must always illustrate the importance for them to aspire to inspire and as a parent, he knows too well the fruits of instilling discipline, teamwork and networking at an early stage of a child’s life.
