Fiji Women’s Rights Movement’s Legal Rights Officer Bernice Lata

Today is all about celebrating the lives of women and recognising the important roles they play in our society.

These were the words of Fiji Women’s Rights Movement’s Legal Rights Officer Bernice Lata during their International Women’s Day celebration at the Fiji Museum today.

Lata says most of the time, women are not acknowledged for the work they do and their contribution to our communities.

She says the celebration of International Women’s Day is all about women taking time off from their workload and having time for themselves.

Lata adds it is important that women are treated the same as men so they can live a free life and not be scared of their rights being violated.

She has also encouraged women to call the toll-free line 1560 if they need help.
