The India High Commission has donated a Mahindra twin cab worth $54,767 to the Nasinu Town Council.
Minister for Infrastructure Praveen Bala highlighted that they had been talking with the Indian High Commission in regards to the donation of a van for the Nasinu Town Council purely to be assigned for the Environment Department.
Bala says they have an issue in the Environment Department as Nasinu is the largest municipality in the country and they have a real issue of rubbish in that corridor.
The Minister for Infrastructure also revealed that the Municipality will appoint an Environment Ranger to take care of the vehicle and issues of rubbish disposal in Nasinu.
India High Commissioner Vishvas Sapkal stated that India and Fiji are very close friends and share very strong bonds.
He highlighted that the twin cab was just a small contribution in the fight against climate change.
