National Federation Party Leader Professor Biman Prasad says right now there is an absolute need for empathy and total absence of discrimination of any kind, in any law, policy or action being taken.
While wishing Fiji’s Muslim community blessed celebrations as they observe the birthday of the founder of Islam - Prophet Muhammad, Prasad says inclusivity, tolerance and ethical conduct are the cornerstones that must be adopted in overcoming challenges confronting Fiji.
Prasad says principles of social, ethical, moral and religious conduct are the bedrock of social, economic and political advancement.
He says this is the basis for lasting peace, harmony and tolerance.
Prasad says the importance of the observance of the Prophet’s Birthday to be marked with a national public holiday can be rightfully credited to the NFP and its then Leader, S M Koya.
