Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez.

Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez has acknowledged that today's bout with undefeated American Caleb Plant in Las Vegas is "personal".

Alvarez, the WBA Super, WBC and WBO super-middleweight titleholder, is aiming to become the undisputed champion by taking Plant's IBF belt.

The rivalry has brought out a new side of Alvarez.

Alvarez left a mark on Caleb Plant during the face-off at the press conference in September.

Plant and Alvarez exchanged words during their first face-off and suddenly the Mexican pushed the American.

Alvarez scratched the face of his opponent as security rushed into separate the two when Plant threw a punch in response to the shove.

Alvarez insisted afterwards Plant said something about his mother, which the 29-year-old American denied.

Alvarez says Plant is a good boxer so the first round is going to be a little complicated for him but after four or five rounds he is going to start doing his job.

The bout takes place at MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

Plant weighs 75kg while Alvarez weighs 76kg.

Alvarez last fought in May when he defeated Billy Joe Saunders.

With the win, the Mexican superstar retained his WBA and WBC titles, as well as added the WBO belt.

Alvarez has a record of 56 wins, 1 loss and 38 knockouts.

Undefeated American Caleb Plant was last in action in January when he scored a unanimous decision against Caleb Truax.

With the win, he made the third successful defence of his IBF title.

Plant has a record of 21 wins and 12 knockouts.

This is the seventh undisputed champion that Canelo has faced in his career.

The fight program starts at 12pm.
