People’s Alliance Leader, Sitiveni Rabuka says he is confident of getting the mandate of the people to form the new government of Fiji but that does not mean they should fall into a trap of overconfidence.
While speaking to over 100 supporters at their provisional candidates announcement at the Salvation Army Hall in Suva, Rabuka says the voters want a new government to give Fiji a fresh start and after 16 years of incompetent rule, fear, thuggery and threat they know in the very early part of the election period, that their moment is here.
The former Prime Minister says Prime Minister, Voreqe Bainimarama and the Attorney General are on their way to defeat.
Rabuka says the People’s Alliance must try harder for every precious vote to counter their opponents who specialise in using the public money and he says they see this happening almost daily now but this time it will not work.
Rabuka further says they have been told that they do not have a policy but he says they will have a manifesto soon.
He adds the Prime Minister, as arrogant as ever and isolated in his own world says he does not have to campaign and they must let him think that way.
Rabuka says his message to his party’s supporters is that they must campaign relentlessly and courageously.
Rabuka says in just a few months they have established a national movement, they registered a party that has attracted many thousands of followers, celebrated major milestones, established a country wide network of branches, had their first general assembly that was attended by more that 2,000 people and the announcement of their cooperation with the National Federation Party which is the oldest party.
He adds it is their calling to work with all Fijians to take Fiji from probably the lowest point into the light of freedom.
