Supervisor of Elections Mohammed Saneem says if we are looking at trying to improve youth participation in elections we need to talk about the things that matter to the youth.
While speaking at the Your Vote Matters Intergenerational Panel Talanoa at USP, Saneem says if you want to talk about democracy and elections to the youth, they will give you the answer you want because our education system teaches you to give the answers that you are expected to give.
He asks what is an election to 18 to 20 year olds.
He also says when you look at the 2014 and 2018 general elections, there have been massive attempts to discredit the process, bring disrepute to the process and struggling attempts to try and bring disrepute to the Fijian Elections Office.
