International Olympic Committee member Dick Pound says the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games will be postponed by one year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Pound says on the basis of the information the International Olympic Committee has, the postponement has been decided.
He says the parameters going forward have not been determined, but the Games are not going to start on the 24th of July.
Australia and Canada have already said they will not compete.
The International Olympic Committee has given itself four weeks to decide on the future of the Tokyo 2020 Games.
Pound says a decision will be announced soon.
He adds they will postpone the Games and begin to deal with all the ramifications of moving the competition.
