Minister for Education, Rosy Akbar says that she does not see herself as a ‘vulagi’ or visitor in the country.
She made these comments while speaking at the International Conference on Forced Labour and Migration at the University of Fiji Saweni Campus.
Akbar says this is her home and home to many of us and it should remain a home to many of us ‑ us and those that are going to come after us.
The Minister says her ancestors were buried in Fiji, her dad was buried here, her mother will be buried in Fiji, she will be buried here and her children will be buried here.
Akbar says people should not call her a ‘vulagi’.
She adds that she is a proud Fijian.
