Fiji Rugby Football Union Trust Board Interim Chair Peter Mazey

Fiji Rugby Football Union Trust Board Interim Chair, Peter Mazey has made it clear that there were no threats made to Fiji Airways Men’s National 7s Coach Ben Gollings about his contract if he does not win any of the tournaments in the first leg of the 2023-2024 HSBC SVNS Series which is the Dubai 7s and the Cape Town 7s.

When asked by fijivillage News about reports that Gollings contract will be under review if he does not win any of the tournaments, Mazey says he just told Gollings that he wants wins and did not threaten him.

He says he just expects the team to win gold at the Olympic Games next year.

Mazey says they will do a judgement call on the performance of the team after the Cape Town 7s this weekend.

He adds the players have informed him that they have had enough of rumours being circulated by the media and also on social media and it has been hurting them a lot.

He says the players have asked the fans to bear with them as they want to prove themselves at the Cape Town 7s this week.

The Fiji Men’s side will take on France at 8.28pm tomorrow in their first pool match, they will then take on Spain at 11.06pm tomorrow before taking on Argentina at 4.50am Sunday in their final pool match.

The cup quarter finals will kick off at 8.34pm Sunday, the semi finals will start at 12.56am Monday and the cup final will be at 5.23am Monday.

The Fijiana 7s side will play Japan at 7.22pm tomorrow in their first pool match, they will then play Spain at 9.34pm tomorrow before playing Australia at 1.54am Sunday in their last pool match.

The Women’s cup quarter finals will start at 7pm Sunday, the semi finals will be at 12.12am Monday and the women’s cup final will kick off at 4.43am Monday.
