Former senior minister of the Fiji Labour Party Krishna Datt

Former senior minister of the Fiji Labour Party Krishna Datt says he is worried about Fijians of Indian descent in the country as they have a diamond amongst them, but they do not recognise him and run after brass and copper.

While speaking at a NFP campaign meeting at Navitoko, Sawani along Princes Road on Thursday night, Datt who is now with NFP told the people that Professor Biman Prasad is the diamond.

Datt says it has never happened in the history of the country and will never happen that a Professor of Economics whose profession and passion is for planning and governance has offered himself to work for the country.

We contacted Datt today and asked him who he is referring to when he said that Fijians of Indian descent are running after brass and copper.

Datt says he will leave this to the imagination of the people.

Datt also told the people that if teachers in the country have any self respect, they will not vote for the Fiji First Party as he says the current government has taken away the self respect and pride of teachers.

Datt says he still works from the office at Fiji Teachers Union building and meets teachers everyday.

He says he is currently writing about the history of Fiji Teachers Union.
