One of Fiji’s resident magistrates, Alofa Seruvatu has confirmed that she will no longer be a magistrate from the 19th of next month.
Magistrate Seruvatu has told Fijivillage today that she received a letter two weeks ago advising her that her contract will not be renewed.
She said she was appointed Fiji’s resident magistrate in 2007 and has always ensured that she serves Fiji well.
Magistrate Seruvatu said she accepts the decision with humility and she thinks she has served Fiji with passion for fairness and justice.
The Chief Justice Chambers said the matter will not be aired publicly on what may have caused this.
The outgoing magistrate said it has been a great 5 years and she has enjoyed every bit of it.
She said she is now planning to take a short break in Papua New Guinea before thinking of other job opportunities.
The contracts of some other magistrates are coming to an end next month.
However, they have refused to make any comments to Fijivillage on whether their contracts have been renewed.
