Hundreds turned up to farewell the late Berenado Vunibobo at the Sacred Heart Cathedral this morning before he was laid to rest at the Lovunilase Cemetry in Suva.
The late Vunibobo who is originally from Waivou in Rewa attended Marist Brothers High School before enrolling into the Queensland University in 1955 pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture.
Vunibobo was already employed by the then Department of Agriculture.
The late Vunibobo served in several Ministerial positions, which included the Finance and Economic Development, Home Affairs and Immigration, Labour and Industrial Relations and also the Youth Sports and Employment Opportunities portfolio.
From 1997 to 1999 he was appointed to be the Minister for Foreign Affairs and External Trade.
Vunibobo died at the age of 83 and is survived by his wife and five children.
Present at the funeral were President Jioji Konrote, Prime Minister Voreqe Bainimarama, government ministers, Opposition member Ratu Suliano Matanitobua.
