Close to 200 people gathered at the Suva Military Cemetery to commemorate the 103rd Anniversary of Anzac Day this morning.
Anzac Day reflects on the brave Australian and New Zealand servicemen and women who displayed courage and self-sacrifice in serving their countries in the battle of Gallipoli against the Ottoman Empire during World War I.
New Zealand Ambassador to Fiji Jonathan Curr says that these brave soldiers risked their lives for a better future and will always be remembered.
Australia’s Ambassador to Fiji John Feakes also reminded those present of the importance of Anzac Day and the sacrifices made.
Also present at the memorial service was President Jioji Konrote, the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces Viliame Naupoto and other dignitaries who laid a wreath in memory of these fallen soldiers.
