Hundreds of people gathered at the Sri Raj Maha Mariamman Temple in Howell Road, Suva today to celebrate the 95th annual fire walking ceremony.
People were seen with friends and families in their traditional attire while there were some people who had come all the way from places such as New Zealand, Australia and the USA to attend the event.
We spoke to some of these people who told us that they could not travel to Fiji in the last few years due to border restrictions and it was good to be back.
Similar celebrations were held in other places and temples throughout the country today.
Today marks the end of almost 2 weeks of prayer for devotees, most of them who were staying in the temple for more than a week.
While speaking at the event, Attorney General Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum says these annual events are important for us as a nation as it brings people together and provides a level of comfort.
Sayed-Khaiyum says we should thank those who have participated in the event because it is not easy and people have to make a lot of sacrifices.
