It was a humbling experience to be back in my village which I will always cherish.
FIJI Water Flying Fijians half-back Frank Lomani highlighted this after the team made a stopover in Nukubalavu village, Savusavu on Saturday.
Lomani was welcomed with a loud cheer from his own people after which the team was accorded a traditional welcome from the villagers.
The nippy half-back says bringing the Flying Fijians over is something special for him, especially in giving back to the people in the village.
Head Coach Simon Raiwalui says it has been a great start and they have been really blessed to meet the fans and reconnect with them.
Raiwalui says the fans have been amazing and the biggest thing is our people investing in us.
Raiwalui says that he is proud to see the kids coming out in numbers to support the team at every stop along their way to Taveuni.
Yesterday the team attended a service at Somosomo Methodist Church.
The Flying Fijians are camping in Welagi, Taveuni for the week and their first game is against Tonga on July 22nd at Churchill Park, Lautoka.
