Former Fiji Airways Men’s 7s captain, Osea Kolinisau believes that the Hong Kong 7s is kind of a rite of passage for Fiji 7s players as they grew up watching legends of the game play the game.
With the excitement to have one of the iconic host back, Kolinisau says that an early Hong Kong Sevens tournaments will give Fijian players a wider stage on which to show off their skills.
Fiji won their first title in 1977 and have dominated since, including winning the last five titles on offer and are currently the defending champion.
Meanwhile, coach Ben Gollings is expected to name his squad this week before they leave on Sunday.
Fiji is pooled with Japan, Spain and USA in Pool C.
The Hong Kong 7s will be held next Friday to Sunday.
