The Fiji Airways men’s 7s team made a brilliant second half comeback to beat a strong Argentine side in their final pool encounter.
Josese Batirerega scored Fiji’s lone try in the first half as Argentina led 14 – 5 at halftime.
Fiji found their flair in the second half with Pilipo Bukayaro scoring under the posts, followed by strong forward Joseva Talacolo who powered through to put Fiji in the lead 17-14.
Making his comeback, Napolioni Bolaca with his magic feet slipped through the Argentine defence to extend Fiji’s lead and secure the win at 26-19.
In earlier matches, Argentina had beaten Samoa 26-19, USA thrashed Japan 31-0, Australia beat Spain 12-7 and New Zealand beat Ireland 26-7.
Fiji will face South Africa at 2.48pm tomorrow in the cup quarter final.
The semifinals will kick off at 7.29pm tomorrow followed by the cup final at 12.15am Monday.
