Residents of Homes of Hope in Wailoku celebrated Fiji Day with the Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Veena Bhatnagar.
Homes of Hope is a shelter for victims of sexual violence.
Bhatnagar says the theme for this year's Fiji Day Celebration is "A Progressive and Sustainable Fiji for all".
She says the theme is significant because it is in line with the government's focus on prioritizing the prosperity of our people today and protects the well being of generations to come.
Bhatnagar says the country has achieved so much as a nation and the government is optimistic that more can be achieved if people work together as a united front.
She says this year's celebration is also targeting the younger generation as they are the key to having a more unified country tomorrow.
The Minister donated gifts to the Home that includes farming materials and cleaning materials such as gardening forks, mops, buckets and rakes.
The Coordinator for Homes for Hope Sera Koloi says this assistance will help the residents in their vegetable and poultry farms.
