A historical fiction novel based on the very first landing in Fiji in the year 1225BC titled Ancestral: A Fiji Tale has been launched.
Author Blair Robertson says he hopes to inspire readers not only to read more books but write books as well.
Robertson says he feels there is not enough reading of books these days adding he likes watching TV as well but there needs to be a balance and books give more depth.
He adds when he writes a book he always keeps in mind that his book not only interests people but provides them with educational material as well.
Robertson says his novel is for people of all ages as there are characters of all ages plus it has an educational and interesting tone to it.
The author says he put himself back in time so that he could provide more details for the scenes in his book such as what meals the characters would be having. He adds his research helped him greatly in this regard.
Robertson also revealed he has already started work on his next novel titled Koronivalu: A Fiji Tale which he hopes to complete by 2022.
Robertson says the story is also about Tay and his relatives who live in the Eastern Solomons and are the first Pacific Islanders to discover Fiji which, he says, was quite a challenge considering the technology available to them.
The novel will be available in various book shops and libraries around the country by next week.
