It is a historic day for Fiji as we host the 43rd International Sugar Organization Council meeting from today.

The representatives from 86 countries have arrived in the country for the meeting which officially starts in Nadi today.

Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama who is the Chairperson of the Council will welcome the guests today.

More than 100 delegates from around the world will attend the meeting and look at ways of promoting sugar exports and sugar prices especially for developing states.

Meanwhile the International Sugar Organization Conference received a financial boost of $20,000 from ANZ Fiji for the 43rd ISO Council Session.

Permanent Secretary of the Prime Minister's Office, Colonel Pio Tikoduadua while accepting the cheque from ANZ CEO Fiji and the Pacific, Vishnu Mohan said the government is grateful to the bank for its assistance in the sugar industry which is one of the critical areas of national development.

Mohan said the ANZ is privileged and honoured for the opportunity to assist government for the prestigious International Sugar Organisation meeting.
